The Pound Ridge Community Green project transformed a formerly contaminated site in Pound Ridge, New York, into valuable open space for the community. Among the park’s features are a central green space, stage, granite sculpture, sitting walls, and seating areas. In reimagining the setting, Louis Fusco Landscape Architects made a conscious effort to utilize sustainable local or recycled materials in the site furnishings and amenities they selected. Our Float Benches were specified for their use of domestically sourced Thermally Modified Red Oak, while our Knight Benches, modified to create a custom seating area around large boulders, incorporate reclaimed Teak. The project also reflects the Landscape Architect’s commitment to working with manufacturers and suppliers who are able to disclose transparency about their products and comply with the tenets of the Design for Freedom movement, which seeks to eliminate forced labor in the building materials supply chain. F+S worked with the design team throughout the evolution of the project to help bring this inviting, people-friendly site to life.
